RTO Plus
for Windows Press Release
November 6, 2008
Another first! RTO Plus.Net for Windows announces
Biometrics recognition technology (fingerprint readers)
for Rent to Own Stores!
Susan Yarbrough, in association with Blue Ridge
Programming and Services based in North Carolina,
distributor for the RTO Plus.Net for Windows rent to own
store management software package, announced today that RTO Plus.Net for Windows
has now incorporated fingerprint recognition technology for
rent to own store employee security and user login
functions and is available for immediate distribution.
RTO Plus.Net
for Windows utilizes a fingerprint reading device,
either a stand alone reader or a keyboard integrated
model, and along with the reader software engine,
registers employees' fingerprints into their database
record to be recalled at a later time for internal
security purposes...for example, user login.
The fingerprint scan can
either replace the traditional password entry field when
processing an employee security login or the manager can
decide upon maintaining both systems. These
parameters are saved during Store Setup.
"This is an exciting field
to enter into and with pricing dropping dramatically in
the past couple of years, biometrics has become a viable
option with a minimum investment", says Yarbrough, "and
with identity theft becoming more and more of an issue,
it will be just a matter of time before we incorporate
this technology for use in customer identification as
well." Rest assured also that your
fingerprint per se is NOT saved within the database.
An encrypted mathematical equivalent of
the fingerprint is stored so as to protect the identity
of all users.
Employee security and
trading of passwords has traditionally been a difficult
area to manage. Biometrics can close that security
gap..one can not exchange fingerprints!
Another area of difficulty
in managing is that of employee time clock "buddy
punching". We are in the process of incorporating
biometric technology into an RTO Plus.Net time clock
patch where this practice of "buddy punching" will be a
thing of the past!
Information regarding the
stand alone biometric reader can be reviewed by

Server 2003 technology and Remote Desktop (Terminal
Services) and they perform flawlessly. They are
also Microsoft Vista compliant. The stand alone reader
utilizes an USB port for connectivity.
