RTO Plus
for Windows Press Release
November 1, 2008
RTO Plus.Net for Windows announces
Barcode Scanning
for Rent to Own Stores!
Susan Yarbrough, in association with Blue Ridge
Programming and Services based in North Carolina,
distributor for the RTO Plus.Net for Windows rent to own
store management software package, announced today that RTO Plus.Net for Windows
now incorporates several of the Metrologic portable
barcode scanning units and their driver engines
seamlessly into RTO Plus.Net and is now available for immediate distribution.
The devices currently supported include the
Metrologic ScanPal 2,
Optimus SP5500 S series,
and the
Optimus SP5600 R series.
The store manager/owner
decides whether barcodes will be generated using Item
Numbers, Serial Numbers, or Unit Identification Numbers
and the appropriate barcode will be printed on inventory
labels and/or price tags. Labels can be printed either
on demand or in batches.
All of the barcode scanner
drivers and support files are included within RTO
Plus.Net for Windows so there is nothing else to
install. The integration between the scanner and RTO
Plus.Net for Windows is seamless.
Metrologic scanners can
be purchased through Scan On Line by clicking on this
link.
Scanned
inventory can then be reconciled by downloading the
scans via the Inventory Count Sheet process and
reports indicating item overages and shortages will
be printed with indications whether an item was
counted manually or if it was scanned in.
The
ScanPal 2 scanners utilize a serial (COM) port and if
a COM is not
available,
Belkin makes a USB to Serial adapter
cable that works just fine whether in Server 2003,
Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Remote Desktop
(Terminal Services). The Optimus series scanners
utilize a different interface and the adapter cable
isn't needed. Specifically, the charger/cradle has
the necessary interface (Cradle integrated IR) and
an assigned COM port from 1 to 255 with the actual
physical interface being a USB port.
These barcode scanners are obviously
compliant with all of these operating systems as
well. We at RTO Plus.Net for Windows recommend
the Optimus SP5500 S without the blue
tooth option.

the manufacturer's web site for the OptimusS SP5500.

The Metrologic Scan Pal2,
Optimus SP5500, and Optimus SP5600
barcode readers function as per spec within Vista,
Windows XP Pro, Windows Server 2003, and Remote Desktop
(Terminal Services) when installed and configured
properly. Drivers must be installed for the server, each
Terminal Services Client, and all other clients
accessing the routines.
