Initially we felt that the rent to own software that was available was both unrealistically expensive and extremely difficult to use.  Not only that, but with the decade (millennium) change on the horizon, we knew that DOS, Unix, Xenix, Lynux, or other text based software products were going to be a thing of the past or at least difficult to maintain.  Also, the procedures required to access and perform basic store functions were difficult to say the least.

Not only were RTO companies being charged outrageous monthly fees lease just to use the software, in many cases, they were also at the mercy of the software vendor in determining what hardware was acceptable to use thereby further increasing the cost of computerization and forcing those companies to purchase hardware from those software companies.  Unfortunately, that requirement is still in practice in many instances even today.

Enter RTO Plus for Windows.  Our purpose and mission statement was to provide a reasonably priced Windows based product that was user friendly yet one that provided the necessary features, reports and processes most RTO store personnel deem necessary.  Our pricing was and still is currently based upon store physical location and was/is not determined upon the number of workstations involved.  Basically, one address, one license...two locations, two licenses and so forth.  Our software is completely network ready, local area networking as well as wide area, remote access networking.

We still adhere to the same principals as originally set forth in our original Mission Statement..."To provide a reasonably priced software product that doesn't require a rocket scientist to operate it and with no ongoing recurring fees".

A Word About Enhancements and Support

With enhancements here at RTO Plus as well as the technological field occurring at a really fast pace, it is only reasonable to expect that what may be true in today's version may not necessarily be true in tomorrow's version.  We will always alert our clients to any changes in the logic of the software and also of any changes in the procedures you need to follow within the software.  We advise our clients when updates are available and also let them know which software or procedure routines have changed.  We do not require our clients to purchase upgrades.  With this being the case, we can only give support for specific procedures and processes for 60 days and for general program logic for 1 year.  We simply cannot give support for each and every version that RTO Plus has been through.  Accordingly, within your license agreement is the statement that, the "Licensee is exclusively responsible for the supervision, management, and control of the use of RTO+.  Licensee will take appropriate action by instruction, agreement, or otherwise to cause its employees or other persons permitted access to RTO+ to fulfill its obligations under this Agreement" which includes your responsibility to utilize the software properly and for you to instruct your employees as to its proper usage.
